voyager

Voyager explores a different way of experiencing music by combining sound and visuals into one design. Inspired by Daft Punk’s blend of music and technology, the headphones feature a retractable transparent visor that can sit above the head or be brought down to add a visual layer without blocking your view. The idea started with DJs in mind, but it quickly expanded into other experiences like quiet concerts, gaming, and film, where immersion plays a big role. The form takes cues from Daft Punk’s helmets, using silver and gold accents to give it a futuristic feel while keeping the focus on the experience itself.

IDEATION

prototyping

After the ideation phase, I moved into prototyping by carving the initial concept out of foam to get a better sense of the form in three dimensions. From there, I explored a second variation of the design through another foam model, refining the overall shape and proportions. I then 3D printed the concept to study it more precisely before moving into digital work. During ideation, I also broke the design apart through exploded drawings to better understand how each component would come together. That made the transition into 3D modeling much more straightforward, allowing me to focus on refining the design before moving into rendering.
